Great job dipshit!!! Case was dismissed, no evidence it ever occurred.

Expand full comment

Quite the contrary. The evidence is going to be mailed to me sometime next week.

There is no evidence. If there was any evidence, the prosecutor would have gotten it, don't you think?

The only thing you're going to get is more BS from Jones.

The criminal complaint was dismissed because you can't violate a protective order that has not been approved by the courts, or that the person the order is being issued against has not been served with (You can't violate a PO you don't know exists).

Jones played you for attention.

Sure. The Court didn't get any evidence, but you are going to get some in the mail. Next week. I wouldn't hold my breath

He'll get the evidence next week, but made up the story yesterday. Had to correct it again and again and again. Lols

Why wait for evidence? It's not like you are a real journalist, you're more of a fantasist

Doubling down on stupidity is never a wise move. Neither is expecting mail anytime soon.

The more I read about Jones the more I believe she is a grifter..... The media keeps pumping her up either because they just want to believe her or they are fools.

Investigative journalism at its best! thank you, Grant!

It's an impartial presentation of the facts from both sides and we'll get the rest from the court or the District Attorney's office today or tomorrow. I can think of 1983 reasons why this story will go on a little longer, and why each side is saying what they're saying. But this story doesn't include my personal opinion of that either. Perhaps the DPA has been completed today.

Expand full comment

It's hardly impartial. You bought everything Jones told you, despite the fact that it was all easily verifiable and total garbage.

Expand full comment

Grant! I will be reading along as you follow the trail!! And I would LIKE to hear you opinions!

Expand full comment

My opinion is that this was worth spending two months reporting the story out and there is so much more to come!

Actually, there's another public records lawsuit I have pending against the Florida Department of Health for refusing to give me their whistleblower claim criteria. They just refused to respond. Hoping my lawyers will get access to that record soon so we can show the world the rigorous criteria the state applied before granting her whistleblower status.

I feel like too much factual journalism nowadays is 'there's a report' or 'this just happened!' and not enough 'this record says what everything means' or looking to ask the questions they don't want to answer and report the information they don't want to release.

Which is why your reporting is so important, Grant!

His reporting is a joke. Jones played him for a fool

Deficient intellects flock together. Well done.

Weren't you a cuomosexual?

ROTFL ... yeah real journalists hook up with fraudsters and repeat everything THEY say as fact. If you owe any student loans for journalism school, you should refuse to pay just because the profs clearly failed you.

Yeesh, I hope your employers don't see you here. This is some serious misinfo you are actively endorsing

I gotta tell you, Ms. Carroll, you are not going to like where this went. The vaunted investigative journalist’s sole source admitted she knew it was a fabrication a month and a half before this story went up.

LMAO

He didn't investigate a damned thing. He just took what Jones told him and put it on his blog

Which of you is the dim bulb, and which is the dull blade?

"insufficient evidence"

"recollected events inaccurately"

"later clarified"

"totally false"

"said the whistleblower erroneously"

"Jones later clarified"

Yikes, you got played. But don't take it personal, she finagled some of the major news networks for awhile before they eventually caught on despite how much they wanted to believe and push her story. Take the L and press on.

How to journalism:

1) Write a story based completely upon one person’s lies

2) get corrected by people who do research and get shamed into admitting you were wrong and your source lied

3) rewrite the entire story

4) get a panicked phone call from the known liar who doesn’t want you to destroy what reputation she has left, and she gives you a new version of events which are real this ti,e she promises

5) rewrite the story a third time.

6) More to come!

Only suckers research beforehand and get it right the first time, journalism students

Seriously, the more I read this, the worse it comes off. We need some answers. You saw Jones’ messages with her attorney, but none mention this supposed plea deal or clarified what the state’s intentions were? How is Jones’ lawyer not involved in the State Attorney’s phone call to tell her they’re “settling?” If she was, did you see that message? Did anyone not care to ask a follow up? You both seriously want us to believe that Jones cannot recall important details of a phone call with this State Attorney from a little over a month ago? Did she say anything to his person other than “hello?” Also, if Jones knows they’re settling in early July, why does she say on Instagram on July 27th that Pushaw is going on trial in August? Can you or will you answer ANY of that?

Lols, what a shoddy piece of journalism. Update 1, Update 2 are also corrections.

This isn't journalism, this is just ideological bullshit

When someone (Charles Cooke, for instance) tells you EXACTLY how this is all going to pan out months ago, maybe you should pay attention.

Find myself wondering why you don't want to simply retract this entire thing. You were very obviously wrong.

Rebekah Jones confirmed today on her own Instagram that the Assistant State Attorney informed her in writing prior to July 4th that the case against Pushaw was being dropped. Jones’s “clarifications” of her false statements that she received a vague call from the ASA and she misremembered details was another fabrication. At what point will you need to admit to your readers that you based this entire story on a lie?

Expand full comment

You are a lying idiot. As to these charges the Montgomery County State’s Attorneys Office says otherwise.

Expand full comment

Pushaw's a liar and a shady piece of work.

Expand full comment

Um, you're describing yourself.

Expand full comment

Yeah, I think Pushaw rallies way too hard against Jones for these to be false charges. She has minions who search Twitter daily for mentions of Jones and herself so that they can shut them down immediately with RU intimidation tactics.

Expand full comment

It seems that Christina Pushaw went after Rebekah Jones in Maryland, not the other way around. If Christina had never had anything to say about or to Rebekah, there would be no history between them - or are we missing a previous history? And then, having made Rebekah unsettled enough to file a complaint, Christina used that (and the negative articles about Rebekah generated by rightwing media) as part of her "credentials" for a job with Gov. DeSantis. From that view point, having pushed Rebekah to the point of a risking a stalking conviction made Christina uniquely desirable as a close employee for Ron DeSantis - who has long appeared to be vengeful toward Rebekah. Ron apparently doesn't take well to state employees who won't do his bidding and stay quiet.
